Flying L Racing Ruby Star 991.1 GT3 RS BBi Exhaust Side Bypass & HRE R101LW Wheels


We would like to take a quick moment to present Flying L Racing’s Ruby Star Porsche 991.1 GT3 RS that we recently swapped out the bulky OEM side mufflers and replaced it with our BBi StreetCup Exhaust Bypass to reduce weight and deliver an aggressive exhaust note that matches the car's race-bred DNA. The side bypass is an excellent alternative to our popular center section exhaust bypass for those prefer a more aggressive Cup Car like sound and maximum weight savings. The factory secondary center exhaust weighs approximately 13 & 19 pounds for the Titanium RS and Stainless non-RS versions and our center section bypass weighs 8 pounds. This equates to only 5 or 11 pounds of weight savings depending on the variant.

To save the maximum weight, we took the same approach as Porsche with their Cup Cars, and bypassed the much heavier primary side mufflers. As shown on the scale, the primary mufflers are weigh approximately 46 pounds total for both the RS and non RS while our BBi bypass pipes are 5 pounds in comparison. That equates to a substantial weight reduction of 89% compared to the original weight of the OEM muffler that we replaced. For durability and protection against corrosion, each set is meticulously TIG welded using 304 aerospace grade stainless tubing with lower carbon content.

BBi in the SpeedHunters' Crosshairs

The BBi guys were participating in some local track days and Trevor was the photographer on duty. Started to chat cars and the Porsche world seemed to pique his interest. Next time Trevor was in town we got together, talked shop, talked builds and he snapped some photos while at it.

Trevor is one of the regular contributors at SpeedHunters where he applies his eye for a well framed shot along with a bit of geeking out with his background in mechanical engineering. It was an absolute pleasure talking to Trevor and we are honored to have BBi profiled by SpeedHunters. Cobb Accessport PDK Tuning for Porsche 997.2 Turbo/Turbo S/Carrera, and 987.2 Cayman/Boxter Now Available


Do you want your 997.2 Turbo PDK to shift more like a 991 GT3 and have higher horsepower holding capacity? We are extremely excited to annouce that our technical partners at COBB Tuning recently released the Accessport PDK Tuning for all currently supported Porsche 997.2 and 987.2 vehicles. Similar to the initial PDK Tuning release for 991.1 and 981 vehicles, this release offers users the ability to flash the factory PDK controller with COBB optimized Off The Shelf Map files.

Porsche 997.2 Turbo Updates

  • Increased Minimum Shift Points

    • This feature increases the lowest RPM at which the PDK will shift to the next gear in Normal and Sport drive modes.

    • Increased Shift Firmness

      • COBB Sport, COBB Aggressive, and COBB High Torque Aggressive maps raise the shift firmness to help reduce clutch slip.

    • Increased Clutch Pressure

      • COBB High Torque Aggressive maps raise the maximum clutch pressures to help reduce clutch slip after shifting. The COBB High Torque Aggressive map is typically used on vehicles that have an increased engine torque output of 50% or more over stock. A PDK relearn may be required when switching from this map to other COBB maps or uninstalling. PDK Relearn instructions are located below.

    • Minimized Continuous Clutch Slip

      • COBB Sport, COBB Aggressive, and COBB High Torque Aggressive maps decrease the RPM at which the clutch is engaged in continuous slip, generally between 1000-2500RPM.

    • Decreased Shift Time

      • COBB Aggressive maps decrease upshift and downshift time.

    • Summary

      • COBB Sport: Increased minimum shift points, shift firmness increased, and continuous slip decreased.

      • COBB Aggressive: All COBB Sport features plus decreased shift time.

      • COBB High Torque: All COBB Sport features plus increased clutch pressures.
